[post_content] => Sparks crack stars, black
as aardvark abysses, and
art. Arcs trap brash BMWs,
as drag wasps snarl at fast,
craft flaws. Warmth gnaws

caravans and hay carts.
Lazy rays gray; a flash day.
Cars halt at last, as stray
stars fly, and fall, far away.

[wpcf-summary-description] => Ross Sutherland says: So much great imagery coiled up inside this poem. The gridlocked motorway comes across so powerfully. Plus, the density of the description gives the whole thing this wonderful Ballardian quality. The skid-marks on the road described as a “car’s last mark: Saharan strata drafts”. I love this idea of the road transforming itself into a poem: “black/ as…art”.
