The Ledbury Poetry Festival Competition

Open, closing 5pm Thursday 16 July 2020The Ledbury Poetry Festival Competition has categories for Adults (18+), Young People (Ages 12 to 17) and Children (under 12). The relevant ages means age on the date of submission. Poems must be no longer than 40 lines. This year’s judge is Liz Berry.

Adults: £5.75 for the first poem, £3.50 for each additional poem.

Children/Young People: First poem free, £1.75 for each additional poem.

Ledbury Poetry Festival 2020 Poetry Competition has a great first prize of £1000 cash and a residential course at Ty Newydd Writing Centre for adults. It has been an important first step in many poets’ careers, and has categories for Adults, Young People and Children. In addition to cash prizes, winners of all categories are invited to read their poems at the internationally renowned Ledbury Poetry Festival 2021.

For the Young People’s category, there’s a first prize of £100, and for children the first prize is £25 book token. All winners will be invited to read at the 2021 festival.
