Liverpool Young Writers

Liverpool Young Writers is a group of 11-19 year old spoken word artists and creative writers. Activities include weekly creative writing, learning and performance sessions, and regular events to showcase the work of the young writers. The group is organised by Writing on the Wall and was nominated for a BeMOBO Award in 2010. The group is currently on a break but keep an eye on the website for the launch of the new group and other live literature events and projects from Writing on the Wall.

  1. I’d love to join a community like this, I’m 16 and I’m a poet. If you could guide me through the process, I’ll appreciate that… 🙂
    Thank you so much

    1. Hello,

Thanks for your message. We are not affiliated with Liverpool Young Writers but you can get in touch with the people who run it here:

It’s great to hear you’re a keen writer! If you’re interested in getting involved in the Young Poets Network community, we have two poetry challenges currently open that are free to enter:

      – One is inspired by the enigmatic and inviting work of poet W.S. Graham. Enter a Cloud, Imagine a Forest now:
      – And another asks for responses to Freud’s Civilisation and Its Discontents – learn more on the challenge page and enter by 15 July:

Excitingly, you are also eligible for the Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award, with life-changing prizes such as mentoring, poetry books and more: It’s one of the biggest competitions for young poets in the world, you can enter as many poems as you like and entry is totally free!

To keep up to date on all we offer young poets, you can also join our free mailing list:

I hope this is helpful, and best of luck with your writing!

      Best wishes,

      Helen at Young Poets Network
