Open, with a new young people’s category. The poetry competition is open to writers of any nationality from any country aged 16+. The top three poems are entered for the Forward Prize for Poetry (Best Single Poem), an award not open to the general public. £10 per poem. First prize: £5,000.
For 2020, Bridport are introducing a new Young Writer Award for poets aged 16-25. The winner will receive £500 for being placed the highest in their age group across the competition’s categories of poetry, short story, novel or flash fiction. They will also be published in the annual Bridport Prize anthology, which is a stepping stone to other high value writing competitions requiring publication as an entry requirement.
